Lazy or Unassuming

emerging

I’m talking about me, not Gordie, he emerged Saturday November 25 at 11:36AM.  He weighed 7 lbs 2 oz and has a grand set of lungs, feet and fists. I kid you not, the nurse put an oxygen mask in his little bed thing and he threw it out!

I don’t know if I would say there were complications, I was in labor about 11 hrs and as the contractions got stronger there were times he didn’t seem to be responding well, likely due to his position (his face was to my hip). The doctor said we could keep going if I chose but that we might end up needing a C-section. Apparently some women want to try to labor on- forget that! Any potential danger to the baby erased the slightest desire to prove my abilities as a laborer, C- section it was. And Gordie arrived unharmed, thank god and Dr. Llopiz.

So I stayed in the hospital until Tuesday, thought I was just great, no baby blues for me, then, on day three, boomph! I started crying, worrying, it was nasty. Couldn’t eat for two days when I got home, wouldn’t take my eyes off him, all the research I had done driving me frekin crazy. On top of that he didn’t sleep the first two days causing myself and my mother to get overtired and not be able to sleep for, well until yesterday. I don’t know how women do it alone, fully agree with Chris Rock on single parent hood now “you can do it but it doesn’t make it a good idea”.

Okay, so that it is all the challenging stuff, done. I am absolutely in love. He is( getting teary eyed here) a little man with his own big personality. My days consist mainly of listening for burps and rubbing his belly when he farts (he is going to have my hide when he is old enough to read this!) and I couldn’t be happier. The faces he makes, even red and screaming, are little miracles. Wow, what a sap. Everything about him makes the next 40 years of trying not to worry completely worthwhile.

Well, that is it for now, back to my cocoon.
