Lazy or Unassuming

The Worm

The following is copied from an email I sent to the coordinator of the MLIS programme back at Dalhousie, yep pretty lazy.

New York definitely has its +s and -s, the biggest disadvantage being the cost of living! Add to that that librarians(public anyway) here are amongst the lowest paid in the country and it is not the best place to get out of debt. On the plus side is the diversity and the fact that it appears far less segregated than Nova Scotia, along ethnic lines(along economic lines it is certainly more a mosaic than a melting pot); though I could just be under the spell of riding the subway when I say that everyone seems to get on well. Also that there is generally no reason to wonder what a New Yorker is thinking, they will tell you. Some people may not like that but I find it funny and generally feel like I am living in TV land especially being in Brooklyn! And of course there are the free concerts- Al Greene was great- and the endless supply of things to do. We plan to stay for a couple of years and get the most out of the city before moving on to a more lucrative situation.
